What is LinkedIn and why should you be on it?
LinkedIn is a social network for professionals who can connect, share and learn. It’s like Facebook for your career.
Although it is one of the most popular social platforms today, many people still have no idea what LinkedIn is supposed to be used for or how they can benefit from being on it. Here’s what you need to know to get the most out of LinkedIn.
What is LinkedIn?
Whether you are a marketing executive at a large company, a business owner running a small local store, or even a freshman looking for their first job after graduation, LinkedIn is for anyone and everyone interested in getting a career.
more seriously looking for new opportunities to grow their careers and connect with other professionals. You can consider LinkedIn as the equivalent of high tech by going to a traditional networking event where you go and meet other professionals in person, talk a little about what you do, and exchange business cards. It looks like a huge virtual network.
On LinkedIn, you network with people by adding them as “links”, similar to the way you would request a friendship on Facebook. Chat via private message (or contact information) and set your entire professional experience and accomplishments in a well-organized profile to share with other users. LinkedIn is similar to Facebook in terms of settings and features.
These features are more specialized because they are aimed at professionals, but in general, if you know how to use Facebook or any other similar social network, LinkedIn is somewhat comparable.
